Why This Recipe works

Mondays are exciting days when you love your work. They’re essentially a clean slate with unlimited opportunity for new success and boundaries. But after working hard for two days, most of us start to lose steam. On Wednesdays we start looking forward to the end of Friday. Rather than half-assing our work toward the second half of our work week, why not take a nice break and return on Thursday at full speed?

When you think of it, 7-day weeks are a bit arbitrary. Why wait 5 days for the 2 days at the end of the week to catch a break? Mid-week breaks are designed to refresh and rejuventate so you can go into Thursday / Friday with a fresh mindset, a clean slate. At this day and age, some of us find ourselves working through our weekends anyway. If that’s the case, why not take a half-day on Wednesday?

Your turn! Take a good look at your calendar this week and see what you can move around. Most of the time, it’s a lot easier than you think. You can schedule a fun activity for Wednesday, or just keep it open to relax. Remember, it’s the mindset that counts; if you can’t free up your entire Wednesday, no problem. Start small and try to end work at 2PM.
